How Many Calories Do I Need to Lose Weight?

At some point on our fitness journey we all ask the question, "How many calories do I need to lose weight?"

Finding the right answer can often be as difficult as finding the Holy Grail.  There are a number of theories out there, so figuring out what works best for you can be time consuming and frustrating.

The first thing to keep in mind is that we are all different.  We all have different bodies, metabolisms and issues, so although calorie formulas can give us a ballpark number, these numbers are just a guide.  Take some time to play around with the numbers to essentially figure out what works best in your world.

Below is a video that I made that talks about the Harris Benedict Formula and why it is one of my favorite ways to calculate how many calories you need to lose weight. I really like it because it factors in your age, weight, height, activity level and gender when determining how many caloriesy you need to maintain your weight and to lose weight as well.

This video will walk you through the process of figuring out how many calories you need to lose weight and also ensure that you're taking in the appropriate amounts of protein/carbs/fats as well.

Also, remember to put GOOD calories into your body.  Eat clean, natural foods and avoid junk, processed foods. Your body needs good fuel in the engine to fuel it for a great performance at workout time!

To your success,

  1. Getting out there into your community and doing the Beachbody workouts can really help to grow your business. It is a great way for people to try out the workouts. Many of the coaches who do fit clubs find their business is growing quickly.
